An afternoon in the Botanics revisited

6 months ago, on a hot sunny day, I visited the Botanic Gardens in Coffs Harbour. Last weekend I went back for another look… I have a feeling I will be back again soon.

A spontaneous sunset shot from the other night was completed by the random coincidence of someone driving down the road, giving me the wonderful light flares and trails through the mid-area of the shot. Everything was coming up Millhouse!

It was a full moon the other night and such still conditions down at the jetty.

Sunrise & Shipwrecks…

Keeping in tune with the beach theme, I decided it was time to do a morning shoot. I painfully awoke at 4:45am and headed out to the recently uncovered shipwreck at Woolgoolga Beach.

I misread the tide time and height and was expecting water to be surrounding the ship ruins, but unfortunately the lower than expected tide didn’t provide a watery foreground. It was so nice watching the sun rise there I would happily shoot it again, so I may head back in the coming weeks.

Chaotic smoke & side lighting

Some of these shots I captured from someone exhaling smoke, others came from a cigarette burning in an ashtray. All of them have had minor levels adjustments and saturation reduction in some cases, otherwise they are simply straight off the camera.

Just a few other random images… some of my mum’s ornaments and an interesting cube clock. The point that appears to be spinning fast actual moves every second, it was captured with a 30 second exposure.

Trial Bay Gaol Ruins – Sth West Rocks pt2

The gaol ruins were the highlight of the day for me… massive massive stone walls with no ceiling, letting in fractions of sunlight just over the tips of the walls. I’m glad I accidentally arrived late in the afternoon, I don’t think a midday sun would do the texture and shape any justice.

Lachlan and Mikayla; not brother & sister, not cousins, but aunt and nephew. My aunt and my cousin wanted to get photos of the kids, an afternoon at a playground was the perfect setting.

Caterpillars get to have all the fun…

I took this series of shots over a month ago… I am slowly getting through the last couple of months worth of images, editing and uploading.

The caterpillar was crawling all around and over a door handle and locking bolt for a good 10 minutes, and was even kind enough to give a wave in the last shot.
